Ace in the bag by sootstitch Ace in the bag by sootstitch

I heard about this other type of crochet called Afghan/Tunisian crochet, which is a pretty neat type of crochet for making sprite art things since it gives you very square stitches. Had this small sprite of Ace I did a while back, and gave it a shot!

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me?
Whenever I do Tunisian crochet, the stitches come out very stretched and rectangular ([link]). Any idea what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it?

Thanks! Your stuff looks great by the way, excellent sprite work, I'm trying to do Pokemon sprites I mocked up but it's just giving me fits. :(

Hm, the only thing I can think of is that it might be the way you change colour. Tunisian crochet has a specific way that you have to change colour otherwise you start getting gaps and tension warping problems. If you go to YouTube and search up someone called GegeCrochet, she did a two-part video about tunisian colour changing which I thought was very well explained. Hope this helps! :)

Thank you! Took me a lot of tries to get the tension right-ish, but definitely worth it! :D
